Why PEMF Feels So Confusing at First
If I’m being honest, I completely understand why people feel confused when they first come across PEMF.
I was the same.
You start looking into it, and suddenly you’re seeing all kinds of messages. One says high intensity is the best. Another says low intensity is better. Some talk about frequencies like there’s one perfect number you must use. Others use big, impressive words but after reading everything… you’re still not any clearer.
If anything, you feel more unsure.
And I think the reason is quite simple, PEMF is not one standard product.
It’s not like buying something straightforward where everything works the same way. Different systems can be very different from each other. The intensity, the frequencies, the way the signal is delivered, even the build quality and the support behind it… all of that can vary.
So when people say “PEMF works” or “PEMF doesn’t work”, sometimes they’re not even talking about the same kind of system.
Another thing I noticed over time is that not all systems are created equally. Some are properly designed, with real thought and understanding behind them. Others are… honestly, just marketed very well. You’ll see a lot of fancy terms being used, things like “quantum” or “Tesla” and while they sound powerful, they don’t always help you understand what the device is actually doing.
Then there’s the whole high intensity versus low intensity discussion. This is where most people start to feel stuck.
It’s very natural to think that stronger must be better. I thought that too at the beginning. But over time, I realised it’s not that straightforward. In fact, many studies in this space are done using low-intensity systems. So the real question is not which one is stronger, but which one actually makes sense for regular, everyday use.
I also think it’s important to be careful with big claims. Personally, I don’t see PEMF as something that “cures” anything. That kind of language can be misleading. A more grounded way to look at it is that it supports the body at a cellular level, helping the body function more efficiently. It may sound less exciting, but it’s a lot more honest.
Another thing that surprises people is that you don’t always feel anything when you use it. Some people expect a strong sensation, and when they don’t feel it, they assume nothing is happening. But PEMF, especially at lower intensities, can be very subtle. Not feeling something doesn’t automatically mean it’s not working.
And one last thing I usually share with beginners, more is not always better. Going too strong too quickly isn’t necessarily the best way to start. The body sometimes just needs time to adjust.
At the end of the day, I don’t think PEMF needs to be complicated.
Most of the confusion comes from how it’s presented, not what it actually is.
If you take away the hype, the big claims, and all the technical noise, what’s left is something much simpler and much easier to understand.
That’s also why I prefer to explain it this way. Just making sure it actually makes sense.
